Homemade Greeting Cards: A Purse Theme

I like to keep a supply of blank greeting cards on hand to use as thank you notes, friendship cards, thinking of you and more.  Instead of spending $3.00 or so on cards of this type, I handcraft my very own, using just a few inexpensive supplies.  My favorite card theme lately features a fancy, patterned purse image:

  1. To make these chic purse greeting cards, first of all you will need to purchase blank cards with envelopes at your local craft or scrapbooking store.
  2. Next, you will need to buy patterned and plain card stock papers, as well as some silk or raffia ribbon and rhinestones or sequins.
  3. Now using the decorative papers, trace and cut out a purse image.  You can use purses in the following shapes: ovals, squares, rectangles, cirlces and more.
  4. Glue on a rhinestone or sequine as the purse clasp.
  5. Attach ribbon as the purse strap and then layer onto solid colored coordinating cardstock background paper.
