I like to keep a supply of blank greeting cards on hand to use as thank you notes, friendship cards, thinking of you and more. Instead of spending $3.00 or so on cards of this type, I handcraft my very own, using just a few inexpensive supplies. My favorite card theme lately features a fancy, patterned purse image:
- To make these chic purse greeting cards, first of all you will need to purchase blank cards with envelopes at your local craft or scrapbooking store.
- Next, you will need to buy patterned and plain card stock papers, as well as some silk or raffia ribbon and rhinestones or sequins.
- Now using the decorative papers, trace and cut out a purse image. You can use purses in the following shapes: ovals, squares, rectangles, cirlces and more.
- Glue on a rhinestone or sequine as the purse clasp.
- Attach ribbon as the purse strap and then layer onto solid colored coordinating cardstock background paper.

In my family we literally have a kid's birthday party celebration almost every single weekend of the year! Needless to say, it gets costly. And, so I refuse to spend money on a gift AND shell out another $5.00 on a child's card, that will most certainly end up in the trash or recylcing bin. Instead, I make a few dozen kid's cards with a fun and festive animal theme, that I use throughout the year. Here's how:
- Purchase blank cards and envelopes at Michael's craft stores, Office Max or Staples.
- Also at Michael's or a scrapbooking store, locate animal themed dye cuts or stickers.
- Attached the animal stickers or dye cuts onto patterned papers for a layered look. You can chose papers with animal prints or other trendy designs.
- Print out the words "party animal" in decorative font from your computer onto card stock paper.
- Cut out the words with patterned scissors and attach to your cards using a raised foam adhesive.
These adorable handmade kid's greeting cards can also be used as invitations to a animal themed party!
